I love to hang out in the garden and
chew on things. Which plants should I look out for? Luigi, Newport Beach.
Luigi. Enjoy yourself but think twice before chewing on some of the plants in the
garden. Be especially careful of the sago palm and its seeds, azaleas, begonias, jade plants and many
others. For a more complete list please check out the list of toxic
plants at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals website.
I have a pretty white flower growing
wild in my garden. What is it? Emilio, Costa Mesa.
This is bindweed, also
known as a wild morning glory. This can be a very invasive weed that twines around and strangles good plants
so it is better to dig it out by its roots and get rid of it before it before it spreads any further or goes to
seed. Once it is established it is very hard to get rid of and you may need to use a herbicide.
Please check with your local nursery to make sure to you get the right spray for this weed, and use it
carefully.
